On My Mind, 03302025: As stories of the DJT administration seeking to deport persons living in the U.S. under various circumstances (e.g., green card permanent residents, student visas, even naturalized citizens) becomes more frequent in the news, it is worth hearing the words of two of highly regarded Supreme Court Justices on this matter. On April 17, 2014, Marvin Kolb, A Fox News analyst and frequent contributor on NPR, hosted Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg in his monthly interview before the National Press Club in DC. The topic of this episode of “The Kolb Report” was the First Amendment. At 1:01:17 (see video below) in the interview, Kolb raised the question, “Do undocumented immigrants have the Five Freedoms (of the First Amendment: religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition the government)? Scalia answered first, “Oh, I think so; I think anybody who is present in the United States has protections under the US Constitution…” Ginsburg added, “When we get to the 14th Amendment, it doesn’t speak of citizens. As some constitutions grant rights to “citizens,” But our Constitution says “persons.” And person is every person who is here, documented or undocumented” (NOTE: in other writings, both Scalia and Ginsburg take pains to make clear the intentional usage of “person” and “citizen” throughout our Constitution. Uniquely, the Framers of our Constitution used these two terms distinctly and intentionally. While “citizen” is the highest order of residency, both Justices agree that the protections of our Constitution extend to any human, i.e. “person,” who is on U.S. soil). The clear implication of this undebated agreement of both Ginsburg and Scalia on this matter intensifies the magnitude of violations of this constitutional intent by the DJT Administration. To further highlight the current anti-constitutional ambitions of the Administration, in Reno v. Flores (1993), the U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed that even illegal aliens are guaranteed due process by the Fifth Amendment. Justice Antonin Scalia wrote in the majority opinion, “It is well established that the Fifth Amendment entitles aliens to due process of law in deportation proceedings.” DJT et al. are insidiously, especially with the support of the Republicans in Congress, executing a violent albeit “soft” insurrection of our constitutional republic. Bit by bit, they are tearing at the fabric of democracy. Project 2025 is operational, and it will destroy America. STOP THE MONSTER AND HIS MINIONS!
